Eagles sign former DU captain Phillips
LOVELAND, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles announced that they have signed Paul Phillips for the 2013-14 season.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound defenseman spent four seasons at the University of Denver, including one season as an alternate captain for the Pioneers, before eventually becoming the team’s captain during his 2012-13 senior season.
The Darien, Ill. native notched 28 points in 148 games at DU and would go on to be drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Phillips joins Kyle Ostrow as the second former DU captain to sign with the Eagles for the upcoming season. The duo spent two years as teammates with the Pioneers during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.
Prior to skating with the University of Denver, Phillips spent two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL. He was also named to the 2007 U.S. Under-17 Select Team and the 2008 U.S. Under-18 Select Team.
