ECHL announces fines, suspensions

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Monday announced the following fines and suspensions.

Utah’s Emmerson fined, suspended

Utah’s Riley Emmerson has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #364, Idaho at Utah, on Jan. 14.

Emmerson is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline, as the result of an illegal check to the head of an opponent.

Emmerson will miss Utah’s games against Idaho tonight and against Bakersfield on Jan. 19.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Utah’s Sorteberg fined, suspended

Utah’s Matt Sorteberg has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #364, Idaho at Utah, on Jan. 14.

Sorteberg was assessed a major penalty for elbowing and a game misconduct at 12:01 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Sorteberg will miss Utah’s game against Idaho tonight.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
