Everblades’ Damon, Forrest Called Up To Albany

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades announced that the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League have reassigned defenseman J.D. Forrest to Albany of the American Hockey League and that forward Derek Damon (pictured) has been called up to the AHL by the River Rats.

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of Albany and the Rochester Americans of the AHL and Carolina and the Florida Panthers of the NHL.

Selected in the sixth round (181st overall) by Carolina in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Hurricanes, the 26-year-old Forrest has eight points (1g-7a) and six penalty minutes in 12 games for the Everblades.

In his second professional season, the 27-year-old Damon has scored in each of his last five games (8g-6a) to move into a tie for the ECHL lead with 20 points in 13 games.
