Everblades Sign Rookie Switzer

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades announced that they have signed rookie defenseman Craig Switzer.

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League and the Albany River Rats and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. The head coach of the Hurricanes is Peter Laviolette, who began his coaching career in the ECHL. Former ECHL player Jason Cipolla is the assistant coach for Rochester and former ECHL goaltender Bob Janosz is the team’s video, strength & conditioning and goaltending coach.

Selected in the ninth round (275th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 23 year old has played the last four years at the University of New Hampshire where he had 67 points (12g-55a) and 179 penalty minutes in 158 games.
