PRINCETON, N.J. – Florida left wing Damian Surma is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for December 20-26.
Surma had six points, scoring two goals and four assists with a plus-minus rating of +2, as Florida went 1-1-0 against South Division rival Pensacola. After registering two assists in regulation, Surma scored the game-winning goal 43 seconds into overtime giving Florida a 3-2 win over Pensacola on December 21. In the second game of the home-and-home series against the Ice Pilots, Surma had two assists and tallied his 13th goal of the season in the 6-4 loss to Pensacola on December 22.
Selected in the sixth round (174th overall) by Carolina in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to Lowell of the American Hockey League, the 23-year-old Surma is currently tied for 11th in the ECHL in scoring with 26 points (13g-13a) in 28 games.
