FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons announced that goaltender Jamie Holden has been called up to the American Hockey League by the Cleveland Barons.
The 24-year-old Holden made 18 saves and won his first professional start with a 4-3 win against Stockton on Saturday.
The Falcons are the ECHL affiliate of the Barons of the AHL and the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League.
Holden is being called up as a result of former Fresno goaltender Nolan Schaefer being called up to San Jose. Schaefer, who has dressed for the Sharks but has not played, is 1-2-0 with one shutout, a goals-against average of 3.01 and a save percentage of .886. In 2003-04 with the Falcons, Schaefer was 5-5-0 with a goals-against average of 3.12 and a save percentage of .910.
