DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche announced that defenseman Jeff Finger has signed his qualifying offer.
In his rookie season in 2003-04, the 25-year-old Finger had seven points (2g-5a) and 24 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Reading Royals and 11 points (2g-9a) and 88 penalty minutes in 63 games with Hershey of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the 11th round (240th overall) by Colorado in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-2 and 205-pound Finger had 15 points and 125 penalty minutes in 75 games with Hershey in 2004-05.
“We like the way he’s played in his first two pro seasons,” said Avalanche president and general manager Pierre Lacroix. “With experience, we feel he’s going to be an asset for our organization.”
