Todd Ford looked around the South Carolina Stingrays locker room with a wry smile on his face Wednesday after practice. He couldn’t help himself; it was good to be back.
For the last two months, the South Carolina Stingrays goalie has been in Austin, Texas playing in the American Hockey League for the Texas Stars. And while Ford enjoyed his time in the AHL and being one step away from his dream of playing in the NHL, he’s not complaining about being back with the Stingrays.
“It doesn’t matter where I play, I want to be the best goalie I can be,” Ford said. “If I’m in the American League, I want to play as well as I can. If I’m here in South Carolina I want to give the team a chance to win every time I’m on the ice. I want to play at the highest level possible and eventually get to the NHL, but it’s never a bad thing being back in this locker room. We’ve got a great team, it’s a great locker room, great group of guys, and I’m happy to be back.”
