Former All-Star Smith Named MeiGray Alumnus Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Lexington Men O’ War and current Dallas Stars goaltender Mike Smith is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for October.

Smith stopped 22 shots and recorded a shutout in his NHL debut as Dallas won 4-0 on Oct. 21 at Phoenix, becoming the 305th player to play in the NHL after playing in the ECHL. He made 32 saves on Oct. 28 in a 3-2 win against Los Angeles and finished October at 2-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .964.

As a rookie in 2002-03, Smith was named to the ECHL All-Star Game and was 11-10-4 with a goals-against average of 2.55 and a save percentage of .910 in 27 games with Lexington while also playing in the American Hockey League with Utah where he was 5-5-0 with a goals-against average of 3.23 and a save percentage of .906 in 11 games.
