Former Bomber Smith Wins AHL Milestone Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American Hockey League announced that former Dayton and current Rochester defenseman Brandon Smith is the recipient of the CCM / AHL Milestone of the Month award for October.

Smith became just the 18th defenseman and the 51st player ever in AHL history to play in 700 regular season games, accomplishing the feat on Oct. 8 when he scored two points (1g-1a) in a 6-3 win against Manitoba.

In his first professional season in 1994-95, Smith had 65 points (16g-49a) in 60 regular season games and five points (2g-3a) in four playoff games for Dayton while also playing one game in the International Hockey League with Minnesota and in the AHL with Adirondack where he had three points (1g-2a) in 14 regular season games and two penalty minutes in three playoff games.
