Former ECHL Player Boyd Named Jets GM

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Jets announced that former Johnstown Chiefs captain Rick Boyd has been named general manager.

Boyd played six seasons in the ECHL and had 69 points (16g-53a) and 928 penalty minutes in 174 regular season games with Hampton Roads, Johnstown, Knoxville and Roanoke. He had five points (3g-2a) and 63 penalty minutes in 13 games to help Hampton Roads win the Riley Cup in 1991.

The 45 year old was general manager and coach of Somerset in the Metro Junior Hockey League for three years. He coached the Pitt-Johnstown team to the ACHA national tournament three times including a second-place finish in 2004-05 when he was named coach of the year.
