INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, ECHL affiliate of the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, signed second-year forward Matt S. White and rookie forward Walker Wintoneak to ECHL contracts for the 2015-16 season.
A native of McMurray, Pa., White contributed 22 points (11g-11a) and added 44 penalty minutes last season while appearing in all 72 games for the Fuel. Prior to his time in Indy, White notched 44 points (14g-30a) and 64 penalty minutes in 134 appearances for the University of Vermont from 2010-14. In two USHL seasons with the Des Moines Buccaneers from 2007-09, White tallied 27 points (11g-15a) and 100 penalty minutes in 103 games played.
A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Wintoneak, 26, joins the Fuel following parts of five seasons with the University of Calgary from 2010-15. In 102 career CIS games played, Wintoneak supplied 87 points (46g-41a), 40 penalty minutes and a +34 rating. Prior to his collegiate career, Wintoneak notched 17 points (8g-9a) and a +9 rating in 20 appearances for the Missouri Mavericks during the 2010-11 Central Hockey League season. In five junior seasons with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades from 2005-10, Wintoneak collected 169 points (75g-94a) and 121 penalty minutes in 274 career appearances.
