Gates returns to Rush blue line


RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes and AHL’s Springfield Falcons, announced the re-signing of defenseman Jeremy Gates for the 2015-16 season.

Gates started last season with the SPHL’s Pensacola Ice Flyers, recording 9 points (2g-7a) in 15 games, while also establishing a +6 rating. Gates racked up another nine points (1g-8a) in 18 games with Rapid City and added an assist in two games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

A native of Jackson, Mich. Gates, begins his fourth season of professional hockey. He has appeared in 66 career ECHL games with Fort Wayne and Rapid City notching 19 points (3g-16a) and adding 58 penalty minutes. Gates is no stranger to championship hockey, as he has secured back-to-back CCHL championships with his junior program, the Pembroke Lumber Kings, an NCAA Division III National Championship in 2009 with his alma mater, Neumann University, and back-to-back SPHL Championships with the Ice Flyers in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
