Gladiators’ Awe Named In Glas Co
ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Gwinnett rookie defenseman Jon Awe is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 26-Mar. 5. He becomes the fifth different Gladiators player to win the award in 2005-06.

The 6-foot-4 and 220-pound defenseman had a team-leading five goals, six points and a plus-minus rating of +7 as the Gladiators went 4-0-0 to improve to 39-11-7 and 85 points, clinching a berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs while extending their lead in the South Division and the American Conference.

The 25-year-old opened the week scoring two goals in a 3-2 win at Pensacola on Feb. 28 and recorded his first professional hat trick, including a pair of power-play goals, in a 6-3 win against Pensacola on Mar. 4. He closed out the week with an assist on a power-play goal in Gwinnett’s 5-1 win against Pensacola on Mar. 5.
