Gladiators ink first two players for 2013-14
DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators signed the first two members of the 2013-14 squad on Wednesday, as the team added former Ohio State defenseman Devon Krogh and brought back defenseman Jonathan Narbonne.
The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
Krogh, 23, racked up two goals and nine assists in 31 games in his senior year as the team captain at Ohio State last season. The West Vancouver, British Columbia native played in 129 games in his four-year Buckeye career, totaling eight goals, 33 assists and 146 penalty minutes.
Narbonne, 20, spent a majority of last season with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he tallied nine goals, 31 assists and was a +13 in 57 games. He also had an assist in five playoff games for Moncton. The Laval, Quebec native also had a goal and five assists in seven games for Shawinigan of the QMJHL, and was awarded the “Kevin Lowe Trophy” as the best defensive defenseman in the league. The Gladiators signed Narbonne on March 31, and he was with the team through its playoff run, but he did not appear in a game.
