DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators have announced that defenseman Libor Ustrnul has been assigned from Chicago of the American Hockey League and that Chicago has recalled defenseman Paul Flache. Gwinnett is the ECHL affiliate of Chicago of the AHL and Atlanta of the National Hockey League. Ustrnul is expected to join the Gladiators in time for their game at Mississippi on Friday.
Selected in the second round (42nd overall) by Atlanta in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-5 and 235-pound Ustrnul has two assists in 27 games with Chicago.
The 23-year-old Ustrnul played his first two full professional seasons in the AHL with Chicago in 2002-03 and 2003-04, scoring four points (2g-2a) in 86 regular season games and one assist in 10 playoff games.
