Gladiators Sign Briggs, Fox, Mjelleli

DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that they have signed forward Jordan Fox, rookie forward Marty Mjelleli and defenseman Preston Briggs.

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League and the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Chicago is coached by Don Granato, who led Peoria to a 45-20-5 record and the Kelly Cup championship in 1999-2000 after two seasons as head coach and general manager for Columbus.

The 24-year-old Fox had three points (2g-1a) and 19 penalty minutes in eight games with Albany of the AHL in 2007-08 while also playing in the International Hockey League where he had 60 points (26g-34a) and 91 penalty minutes in 66 regular season games and five penalty minutes in five playoff games with Flint.

The 25-year-old Mjelleli has played the last four seasons at St. Cloud State University where he had 21 points (7g-14a) and 28 penalty minutes in 69 games from 2004-08.

The 27-year-old Briggs had seven assists and 78 penalty minutes in 68 games with Pensacola in 2007-08.
