Greiss Recalled By San Jose
Rookie Will Be Sharks Backup Saturday

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons announced that rookie goaltender Thomas Greiss has been recalled by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League and that he will serve as the backup goaltender for the Sharks when they host Philadelphia on Saturday.

The Falcons are the ECHL affiliate of the Sharks of the NHL and the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the third round (94th overall) by the Sharks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old was assigned to Fresno on Tuesday and in his first start on Wednesday he made 27 saves in a 3-1 win against Utah.

Greiss began the season in the AHL where he was 1-2-0 with a goals-against average of 3.05 and a save percentage of .897 in three games with Worcester.
