Grenier Assigned To Checkers From Hartford

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers have announced that defenseman Martin Grenier has been assigned from Hartford of the American Hockey League and is expected to be in the lineup on Saturday when the Checkers host Greenville. Charlotte is the ECHL affiliate of Hartford of the AHL and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the second round (45th overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-6 and 258-pound Grenier has three assists and 45 penalty minutes in eight games with Hartford.

The 24-year-old Grenier has played parts of three seasons in the National Hockey League with Phoenix and Vancouver, accumulating 14 penalty minutes in 15 games.
