West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced that the team has signed defenseman Shayne Taker and re-signed forwards Camden Wojtala and Alex MacMillan for the 2015-16 season.
The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League’s San Diego Gulls.
Taker, 25, enters his second full pro season after splitting last year between the Cincinnati Cyclones and the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage. He led Cincinnati with a +14 and had 15 points (3g-12a) in 58 games. He played four seasons of college hockey at Notre Dame and played five games with the Rampage after completing college in 2013-14.
Wojtala, 24, enters his second season in Utah and was named the Grizzlies Most Improved Player over the course of his rookie season in 2014-15. He had 28 points (8g-20a) in 62 games last year and was the team’s fifth leading scorer the last month of the regular season with five goals and five assists for 10 points in 14 games. He was the Grizzlies sixth leading scorer after December 10 with eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points the final 47 games of the season.
MacMillan, 25, enters his first full professional season. He had three assists in eight games with Utah last year and was also called up to the AHL where he played six games with Anaheim’s former AHL affiliate in Norfolk. The six-foot-four forward had 35 points (15g-20a) in 36 games during his final season of college hockey at American International College in 2014-15.
