West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that veteran forward Simon Ferguson has signed with the Grizzlies. In addition, the team also announced that forward Hugo Carpentier has been reassigned by the Calgary Flames from Utah to the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat. Carpentier had four goals and five assists for nine points in 11 games with Utah this season.
The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Flames and the Heat.
Ferguson was a member of the 2010 Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears after being loaned to Hershey from Utah in March of 2010. The right wing tallied one goal and one assist for two points and 33 penalty minutes with Utah after joining the team from Syracuse of the AHL. His ECHL rights were acquired by Utah from Florida in December of 2009.
In 57 total ECHL games, Ferguson has totaled 11 goals and 44 assists for 55 points and 281 penalty minutes. In 324 career AHL games, he has 31 goals and 53 assists for 84 points and 689 penalty minutes.
