Grizzlies Select Gannon As New Captain

West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has re-signed defenseman Jake Gannon and named him the captain for the 2010-2011 season. He replaces Ryan Kinasewich who will play in Europe this upcoming season.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Gannon, 23, split his rookie season in 2009-2010 between Utah where he played 38 regular season games and Bridgeport of the AHL where he skated in 26 contests. He totaled two goals, four assists and a plus-two in 38 games with Utah while totaling two goals and two assists with Bridgeport.

This marks the second time in three years that Gannon will serve as team captain. He wore the “C” on his sweater during his senior season at Colorado College in 2008-2009.
