Grizzlies sign pair of rookies


West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced that the team has signed rookie forward Johnnie Searfoss and rookie defenseman Kevin Ryan.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League and the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Searfoss, 24, played two games with the Grizzlies last year after completing four years of college hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He attended Dallas Stars’ Prospect Camp this past summer. He tallied 27 goals and 30 assists for 57 points in 140 games in college.

Ryan, 24, played eight games with the South Carolina Stingrays last year after completing college at Niagara University where he was named to the AHA All-Academic Team in multiple years. With the Stingrays, the Eden, N.Y. native had one goal and two assists and also appeared in three playoff games. He had seven goals and 50 assists for 57 points in 147 collegiate games.
