GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl announced that they have renewed their affiliation with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League and the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.
The Grrrowl roster in 2004-05 featured four prospects from the Blackhawks – Scott Balan, Mike Brodeur, Vladimir Gusev and Alex Kojevnikov. Brodeur and Gusev were each called up to Norfolk which also had Greenville player Krys Barch on a professional tryout in 2004-05.
“Renewing our affiliation with Chicago is great news for our team and everyone associated with the Grrrowl,” said Greenville general manager Ryan Stewart. “The Blackhawks are a class organization whose pursuit of excellence enables us to receive their high-quality prospects. We are a developmental league and we take the challenge of developing these players very seriously.”
The head coach of Norfolk is former Trenton and Atlantic City head coach Mike Haviland while former ECHL player Rick Kowalsky is the assistant coach for Norfolk.
