PRINCETON, N.J. – Philipp Grubauer of the Reading Royals is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November. Grubauer also won the monthly goaltending honor in November 2011 while with South Carolina.
The 21-year-old went 10-1-0 with a 2.13 goals-against average and a save percentage of .913 in 12 appearances during November, helping the Royals to a 12-2-0 record during the month.
Grubauer set a Royals’ club record with a personal 10-game winning streak to open the month. He allowed two goals or less in six of his 11 starts during November, and made at least 27 saves on five occasions. Grubauer was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Nov. 18 after going 2-0-0 with a 1.47 goals-against average and a save percentage of .934 in two appearances.
A native of Rosenheim, Germany, Grubauer is second in the ECHL with 10 wins, fourth with a 2.25 goals-against average and fifth with 880 saves.
A fourth-round selection (112th overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Grubauer has appeared in 58 career ECHL games with Reading and South Carolina, posting an overall record of 33-17-4 with one shutout, a 2.23 goals-against average and a save percentage of .916, and last season, was selected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team.
