Gulls Beat Phoenix 5-4 In Shootout

MIRA MESA, Calif. – For the second straight night the San Diego Gulls defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners in a shootout, winning 5-4 in front of another standing room only crowd at the San Diego Ice Arena in a preseason game on Saturday.

San Diego will play its final preseason game on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. against the Bakersfield Condors at the San Diego Ice Arena.

Jade Galbraith gave San Diego a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 12:45 of the first period, assisted by Grady Moore, but Shawn Snider scored at 18:50 tying the game at the end of the period.

The RoadRunners took a 3-1 lead in the second period on goals by Paul Ballantyne at 1:39 and Chris Mann at 3:49. The Gulls tied the game with power-play goals by Steve Hildenbrand at 7:55 and Jesse Bennefield at 17:44, who each assisted on the other’s goal.

The teams traded power-play goals in the third period with Frantisek Skladany scoring for the Gulls and Snider scoring his second goal of the game for Phoenix.
