Gulutzan Accepts AHL Coaching Position

LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced that general manager and head coach Glen Gulutzan has been named head coach of the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League.

The Wranglers are the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and Abbotsford of the American Hockey League. Former Dayton Bombers coach Jim Playfair is head coach for Abbotsford while former ECHL player Jamie McLennan is the director of goaltender development for the Flames.

The only coach in the team’s six-year history, Gulutzan was 254-124-55 in the regular season and advanced to the Kelly Cup Playoffs five times. He was named ECHL Coach of the Year in 2005-06 and was selected to coach in the ECHL All-Star Game three times, tying the record for most appearances. The Wranglers reached the Kelly Cup Finals in 2008 and the National Conference Finals in 2009 and won the Brabham Cup in 2006-07.
