ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Derek Gustafson‘s crisis last season did not barge into his consciousness with the suddenness of a wicked one-timer, but arrived in trickles, like a puck glancing off him and leaking slowly over his goal line.
An uncharacteristic sloppy rebound here.
A failure to freeze the puck in a goal-mouth scramble there.
A bad-angled shot that inexplicably ricocheted off his glove and past him.
A bid from the blue line that somehow eluded him, and got him yanked from a game.
