PRINCETON, N.J. – Gwinnett center Brad Schell is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 23-29.
The 21-year-old recorded eight points (2g-6a) in two games helping the Gladiators to go 2-0-0 and move into first place in the South Division with 57 points and a record of 26-9-5.
Selected in the sixth round (167th overall) by Atlanta in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to the Thrashers, Schell opened the week scoring a power-play goal and two assists in GwinnettÕs 5-4 win at Columbia on Jan. 28. Playing his second game in as many nights against the Inferno, he scored a season-high five points and, for the second time this season, tied the team record with four assists in the GladiatorsÕ 7-3 win on Jan. 29.
The 6-foot and 180-pound Schell leads Gwinnett in plus-minus rating with +19 and he is fifth on the team with 39 points (16g-23a) in 31 games. He leads the team with three shorthand goals and is second with 20 power-play points and tied for second with eight power-play goals and three game-winning goals. He has also played in the American Hockey League with Chicago where he has three points (1g-2a) in five games.
