Gwinnett’s Tarkki Called Up To Wolves

DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that rookie goaltender Tuomas Tarkki has been called up to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League and that the team has signed Curtis Ryser as an emergency backup goaltender.

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Wolves of the AHL and the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League.

The 25-year-old Tarkki had 30 saves in regulation, four saves in overtime and stopped the first four shooters in the shootout in a 1-0 shootout loss against Charlotte in his first professional start. He is 0-1-1 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.41 and a save percentage of .921 in two games with the Gladiators.
