Gwinnett’s Two Wins Tighten
American Conference Race

The Gwinnett Gladiators won a pair of games against Trenton on Saturday and Sunday to remain in the thick of the American Conference playoff race. With seven games remaining in the regular season, Gwinnett has 67 points and trails Toledo (72 pts.) and Reading (71 pts.) for the final two playoff spots in the conference.

On Saturday, Matt Francis scored two goals and added an assist while Chris Higgins chipped in a goal and two assists as the Gladiators prevailed 6-4. Gwinnett needed a third-period rally on Sunday to complete its two-game sweep of the Devils. Trailing 2-1 late in the third period, Daniel Sullivan scored a power-play goal at the 14:15 mark to tie the game before Matt Caruana added a power-play tally of his own at 15:54 to give the Gladiators the lead. Caruana added an empty-net goal at 18:52 to set the final score, 4-2. David Brown stopped 28 Trenton shots to record the win.

Gwinnett hosts Reading in a game with huge playoff implications on Wednesday. The Gladiators are 2-0-0 against the Royals this season, winning a pair of games in Reading in January. The Gladiators conclude their home stand with a pair of games against Florida on Saturday and Sunday.
