Hayes, 25, was acquired in with South Carolina in March 2013. The winger tallied nearly a point-per-game to finish off the regular season with the Thunder as he registered 11 points (5g-6a) in 12 regular-season games and then added 24 points (9g-15a) in 23 playoff games as Stockton advanced to the 2013 Kelly Cup Finals. Hayes finished just a single point behind Yannick Tifu for the league lead in points during the postseason.
Last season, Hayes was limited to just 32 games, but he did notch 35 points (16g-19a) in the regular season before adding seven points (4g-3a) in nine games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Hayes has tallied 161 points (75g-86a) in 202 career ECHL games with Trenton, Greenville, South Carolina and Stockton. Prior to his pro career, Hayes played for the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL, Boston College and the U.S. National Development Team. During his career as an amateur, Hayes was awarded the OHL and Canadian Hockey League’s Humanitarian of the Year award and won gold medal with the U.S. Under-18 team in 2005-06.
