The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League’s San Diego Gulls.
Walters enters his second professional season after scoring 43 points (20g-23a) in 46 games for the Alaska Aces last year. The 24-year-old added eight points (1g-7a) in 20 games for the AHL’s Iowa Wild.
The Rosemount, Minn. native led Alaska with six goals against Utah last year and had seven points in seven games against the Grizzlies. He was a college teammate of Grizzlies’ forward Brent Gwidt at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he had 134 points (50g-84a) in 152 career games.
He finished second in the nation in scoring during his junior season in 2012-13 with 52 points (22g-30a) in 39 games and finished as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award that season as well.
