LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana IceGators announced that defenseman Max Fortunus has been recalled to the American Hockey League by the Houston Aeros.
The 21-year-old Fortunus, who is expected to be in uniform for the Aeros game against Rochester on Thursday, joins IceGators goaltender Kyle Kettles, who was called up by Houston on Monday. Fortunus is under contract to Houston while Kettles is under contract to Minnesota of the National Hockey League. Houston is the AHL affiliate of Minnesota and has a working agreement with Louisiana.
In 13 games with Louisiana, the 6-0 and 190-pound Fortunus has five points (1g-4a). In his first professional season in 2003-04, he played 12 games with Houston, scoring two points (0g-2a) while scoring 18 points (3g-15a) in 64 regular season games and two points (1g-1a) in four Kelly Cup Playoff games with Louisiana.
