PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that they have formed “The Pensacola Community Foundation” which will support local, regional and national charitable organizations.
The Ice Pilots will donate proceeds from their home opener against Greenville on October 21 to help victims of Hurricanes Dennis, Ivan, Katrina and Rita in Pensacola and along the gulf coast.
Team president Mario Forgione announced that he will also donate proceeds from games played by his other three hockey teams – the Mississauga IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League, the Toronto Aeros of the National Women’s Hockey League and the Milton Ice Hawks of the Ontario Provincial Jr. Hockey League.
“One of my goals when I bought the Ice Pilots was to have a purpose in starting a community foundation to help local charities. All of my hockey teams are community driven and the same will be true for the Pensacola Ice Pilots,” said Forgione. “There are a lot of people in need as a result of the hurricanes that have hit the gulf coast in the last year. This is just one way that the Ice Pilots organization will contribute to help rebuild Pensacola and the gulf coast.”
