Inferno Re-Signs Eastman, Signs Gherson

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia Inferno announced that they have re-signed defenseman Derek Eastman and that they have signed goaltender Robert Gherson.

Returning for his third season with Columbia, the 25-year-old Eastman has 71 points (17g-54a) and 166 penalty minutes in 136 regular season ECHL games and six penalty minutes in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games. He was named to the ECHL All-Rookie team in 2003-04 after scoring 48 points (13g-35a) while playing all 72 regular season games for the Inferno.

Selected in the fifth round (145th overall) by Washington in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Gherson, who will turn 22 on October 8, was selected to the All-Rookie Team after going 24-12-7 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.25 and a save percentage of .925 in 45 games with Quad City of the United Hockey League.
