Inferno Signs Houle

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia Inferno announced that they have signed 2004 ECHL All-Star goaltender Chris Houle.

The 24-year-old Houle, who was under contract to Philadelphia of the American Hockey League each of the past two seasons, helped Trenton capture the Kelly Cup Championship in 2005 going 12-10-6 with a goals-against average of 2.84 and a save percentage of .910 in 31 regular season games while also playing in two Kelly Cup Playoff games.

In his first professional season in 2003-04, the 6-3 and 210-pound Houle was 7-8-3 with a goals-against average of 2.36 and a save percentage of .919 in 19 games with Trenton and had a 1.63 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage for Philadelphia of the AHL. Houle stopped all 10 shots he faced in the third period, after his teammates gave up six goals in the first two periods, to pick up the win in the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game.
