ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Jackals announced that they have signed forwards Luke Stauffacher and Matt Syroczynski.
The ECHL Board of Governors unanimously approved the Membership Application of the Elmira Jackals for admission to the ECHL. Playing their first ECHL season in 2007-08, the Jackals have averaged 3,308 per game over the last seven seasons with 31 sellouts, including a team record standing-room-only crowd of 4,126 on Oct. 13, 2006.
The 26-year-old Stauffacher had 71 points (42g-29a) and 221 penalty minutes in 76 regular season games and 16 penalty minutes in five playoff games for Quad City in the United Hockey League, which ceased operations following the 2006-07 season.
The 6-foot-5 and 225-pound Syroczynski had 41 points (20g-21a) and 106 penalty minutes in 73 regular season games and six points (2g-4a) and six penalty minutes in 10 playoff games for Fort Wayne in the UHL.
