The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Jenks, a native of Wolverine Lake, Mich., posted a career-high 22 goals and added 23 assists over 55 games last year for the Walleye, adding in another two goals with an assist in five games for Grand Rapids. In two seasons with Toledo, he has 70 points (38g-32a) spanning 97 contests while playing with a +19 rating. In addition, Jenks has tacked on another 20 points (10g-10a) in 27 Walleye playoff games.
From Jan. 2 through Feb. 5, 2016, Jenks tied a Walleye record with at least one point in 10 straight contests. Since 2009, the 26-year-old has appeared in 165 total ECHL games between Toledo, Florida, Cincinnati and Charlotte with 114 points (60g-54a). A fourth-round selection of the Florida Panthers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Jenks has also collected 47 points (19g-28a) in 183 games played in the AHL between Grand Rapids, Rochester, San Antonio and Charlotte.
Prior to turning professional, Jenks spent four years with Plymouth of the Ontario Hockey League. He had 193 points (79g-114a) over 249 games with the Whalers. He set career highs in assists (40) and points (63) in 2009-10 while being a captain for Plymouth.
