Johnstown’s Sgroi Suspended 10 Games, Fined

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced that it has suspended Johnstown forward Mike Sgroi for 10 games and fined him an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #699 at Reading on Mar. 1.

Sgroi was assessed a game misconduct penalty – aggressor under Rule 47.2 and a game misconduct penalty – physical abuse of official under Rule 41.2 at 12:03 of the third period.

He is suspended and fined under Rule 29 Supplemental Discipline.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Sgroi missed Johnstown’s game at Elmira (Mar. 2) and will miss games against Wheeling (Mar. 7), against Elmira (Mar. 8), at Trenton (Mar. 9), against Elmira (Mar. 15), against Reading (Mar. 16), at Cincinnati (Mar. 17), at Cincinnati (Mar. 19), against Cincinnati (Mar. 21) and against Wheeling (Mar. 23).
