Kalamazoo's Svendsen named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week
The 26-year-old scored three goals and added three assists as Kalamazoo went 2-1-0 last week to improve to 6-2-0 on the season.
Svendsen opened the week with a goal and an assist in a 6-5 at Wheeling on Friday and ended the week with a four-point (2g-2a) effort in a 7-2 win over Chicago on Sunday.
On the season, Svendsen leads the K-Wings with 13 points, which is tied for fifth overall in the league, while his seven goals are tied for the team lead and tied for third in the league.
Svendsen has 52 points (21g-31a) in 34 career ECHL games with Idaho, Elmira and Kalamazoo and 12 points (5g-7a) in 23 Kelly Cup Playoffs games with the Steelheads and K-Wings. He also has 36 points (14g-22a) in 132 American Hockey League games with Bridgeport.
On behalf of Brandon Svendsen, a case of pucks will be donated to a Kalamazoo youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
