Kerr Named Pensacola Sportsman of the Year

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Tim Kerr, second-year owner of the Pensacola Ice Pilots who many credit for saving professional hockey in the city, has been selected Sportsman of the Year by the Pensacola Sports Association.

The PSA also has selected three athletic dignitaries for induction into the organization’s Hall of Fame: sporting goods entrepreneur and longtime local sports supporter Walter Biggs, former major leaguer Travis Fryman and swimming coach Dottie Whitcomb.

The foursome, along with Olympic Athlete of the Year Justin Gatlin, Pro Athlete of the Year Heath Slocum – a PGA Tour event winner – and Amateur Athlete of the Year Alex Gordon – a basketball standout at Vanderbilt University – will be honored at 6:30 p.m. April 11 at the Cox Communications & Fox Sports Pensacola Sports Association annual awards banquet.
