Komets sign Michigan State product Wolfe


Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Komets announced that Michigan State alum Greg Wolfe has agreed to terms and has been added to the 2014-15 preseason roster.

The Komets are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Wolfe, 24, completed four years of collegiate action last season with the Spartans in the Big Ten. The forward led Michigan State his final year with 13 goals and 31 points in 36 games while serving his second year as captain. Wolfe was honored with his second academic all-conference award and was named the Spartans’ Outstanding Senior and Outstanding Offensive Player. The Canton, Mich. native capped his college career with the Big Ten Medal of Honor for his leadership in academics and community service.

Wolfe also made his pro debut last season appearing in seven regular season games with Reading scoring three goals before skating three ECHL playoff games with the Royals against Fort Wayne.
