Kompon Called Up From Reading to Monarchs

READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals announced that forward Mike Kompon (pictured) has been loaned to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League and that they have signed defenseman Antoine Bergeron, who is expected to play for Reading on Saturday at Trenton.

The 23-year-old Kompon leads the ECHL with 27 assists and is tied for eighth in the league with a team-leading 36 points in 27 games and he is on a 14-game scoring steak (3g-18a).

Selected in the third round (96th overall) by the St. Louis Blues in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year-old Bergeron last played professionally in 2003-04 when he had two points (1g-1a) and 15 penalty minutes in 10 games with Trenton. He played for Reading in 2002-03 and had seven points (1g-6a) and 49 penalty minutes in 37 games.
