For The Trentonian
Trenton makes, Albany takes.
After an illustrious career both as a player and a coach in the capital city, Rick Kowalsky was recently named the new head coach of the Devils AHL affiliate after a four-season stint as Trenton’s bench boss.
“I’m very happy and very excited to be able to make this jump and stay in the Devils organization,” said Kowalsky via telephone.
The 38-year-old native of Simcoe, Ontario, Canada posted a 128-122-28 with the T-Devils — including two playoff appearances — after a one-season stint as an assistant under former Trenton head coach Mike Haviland with the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals. Now, he’s back to the highest level of the minors, and he’ll get to enjoy all the perks that come with it.
