Laing Happy To Re-Sign With Capitals

Former ECHL left wing Quintin Laing was still enjoying the afterglow of the Calder Cup championship celebration when he found himself celebrating again.

The man who defied the odds to get back in the lineup in time to help the Hershey Bears win the Cup won’t have to worry about where he’s going to be next season. Laing, who would have become a free agent July 1, signed a new contract with the Washington Capitals organization yesterday. Terms of the one-year contract were not announced.

“I wasn’t expecting a phone call like that so soon,” said Laing. “But it was good news, and as soon as I heard, I said ‘Sign me up.’

“It really kind of caught me off guard, but it’s nice to find out so early in the summer where you’ll be in training camp.”
