Lang named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

 

Mickey Lang of the Orlando Solar Bears is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 10-16.

 

Lang scored seven goals and added one assist for eight points as Orlando went 4-0-0 last week, extending its home winning streak to nine games.

 

The 27-year-old tied the Solar Bears’ record with four goals, including two on the power play, in a 5-2 win against South Carolina on Tuesday before notching a goal in a 2-1 victory over the Stingrays on Thursday and an assist in a 4-2 win against Gwinnett on Friday. He ended the week by scoring the tying goal with nine seconds remaining, and then potting the game-winner 1:10 into overtime in a 5-4 win against the Gladiators on Saturday.

 

A native of Reno, Nev., Lang has posted 20 points (12g-8a) in 12 games with Orlando, and his 29 goals combined this season with the Solar Bears and Fort Wayne lead the ECHL. He has added one goal in five games with Iowa of the American Hockey League.

 

Lang has posted 170 points (90g-80a) in 167 career professional games.

 

On behalf of Mickey Lang, a case of pucks will be donated to an Orlando youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
