Las Vegas Acquires O’Connor, Draney

LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Wranglers announced that they have traded center Pierre-Luc Sleigher to the San Diego Gulls for the rights to right wing Sean O’Connor and left wing Brett Draney.

The Wranglers are the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames and the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the American Hockey League.

Selected in third round (82nd overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 23-year-old O’Connor is currently in training camp with Manitoba in the AHL. In his third professional season in 2004-05, the 6-foot-3 and 220-pound O’Connor had 30 points (20g-10a) and 142 penalty minutes in 46 games with San Diego and one assist and 28 penalty minutes in 15 games with Cincinnati in the AHL.

Selected in the sixth round (186th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year-old Draney had 42 points (16g-26a) and 54 penalty minutes in 50 games with Idaho and eight points (2g-6a) in nine games with San Diego in 2004-05 while also playing one game in the AHL with Utah.
