Legace Named MeiGray Group
ECHL Alumnus Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Richmond Renegades and current Detroit Red Wings goaltender Manny Legace is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for October.

Legace, who won the alumnus award in March 2004, established an National Hockey League record for most victories by a goaltender in October (10-1-0) and had a goals-against average of 1.81 and a save percentage of .925. Legace eclipsed the previous mark for October victories (nine), set by Vancouver’s Kirk McLean in 1991-92 (9-2-1) and matched by Toronto’s Felix Potvin and Philadelphia’s Dominic Roussel in 1993-94 (both 9-1-0).

Legace, who became the fifth ECHL alumnus to hoist the Stanley Cup when the Red Wings won in 2002, allowed two goals or fewer in eight of 11 appearances, including his last seven consecutive starts, to help the Red Wings (11-1-0, 22 points) finish the month first in the NHL overall standings.
