Lowell Signs Goaltender Smith

LOWELL, Mass. – The Lowell Devils of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed goaltender Jason Smith, who played for Trenton as a rookie in 2007-08.

The Trenton Devils are owned and operated by the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League and are the ECHL affiliate of New Jersey and Lowell of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the sixth round (197th overall) by the New Jersey Devils in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the 23 year old was 13-18-3 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 3.13 and a save percentage of .899 in 35 games with Trenton.

The 6-foot-3 and 202-pound netminder was named Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 10-16 after going 3-0-0 with back-to-back shutouts, a goals-against average of 0.33 and a save percentage of .989.
